Mostly settled weather across the country today due to a ridge of high pressure. A front that moves onto Southland later this afternoon does bring an impending cool change however.
Northland
Sunny with southerly winds. Winds tending more southeasterly in the afternoon, especially along eastern coastlines.
Mostly sunny with southerly breezes tending more southwest this afternoon. A northeast sea breeze develops about eastern areas this afternoon.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with southerlies easing this morning to light winds, the Bay Of
Plenty gets northerly winds this afternoon.
Highs: 23-25
Eastern North Island
Sunny with southerly winds tending easterly this afternoon. Later this
evening northwesterlies pick up about the Wairarapa. Gisborne however has
southerly winds for much of the day then finally tending easterly there late
afternoon or evening, mostly sunny conditions.
Highs: 21-22
Western North Island
Sunny with light winds this morning then afternoon westerlies. About
Taranaki expect sunny weather also, southerly winds this morning then tending
southwest this afternoon.
Sunny with northerlies becoming brisk or strong at times this
afternoon.
Sunny with light winds this morning then afternoon northerlies.
Sunny with light winds this morning, northwesterlies pick up in the
afternoon.
Sunny with northwesterlies inland and northeasterlies developing this
morning near the coast. Northwesterlies push through to the coast later this
afternoon bringing a pleasant end to the day. Overnight winds change southerly
with cloud and the chance of a light shower or two.
Sunny areas with light winds at first this morning, areas of cloud increase
in the afternoon with westerly winds. Patchy drizzle about Fiordland moves into
South Westland in the afternoon then further north in the evening. Rain moves
through for a time overnight.

Coastal Otago
Mostly sunny with northwesterly breezes, winds change southwest in the
evening with some rain, easing to showers then clearing just after
midnight.
Mostly sunny with westerly winds, later in the evening a southwest change
moves through bringing a brief period of showers which clears around
midnight.
Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds, late afternoon a strong west to
southwest change develops bringing some rain which then clears in the
evening.

Getting desperate here in North Waikato.the disturbed tropics need to help us out with some rain .whats the chances?

Most of the current data we have shows fairly dry conditions through
till the 6th or perhaps even the 10th March. These are long range models
though and are likely to change a bit.
There are hints of a tropical low on the 7th March so that looks like our best bet so far for some resonable rain in your area. Fingers crossed something comes sooner!
