A southerly airflow over the North Island delivers sunny spells in the west with showers and cooler temperatures in the east. The South Island sits under a ridge of high pressure so the weather is more settled.

Auckland & Northland

Sunny spells with southerlies tending southwest this afternoon and freshening. Later in the evening some cloud thickens with the chance of an overnight shower moving in, mainly in the west.

Highs: 24-26

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells with southerly breezes, risk of a late afternoon isolated
shower.

Highs: 21-26

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, southwesterly winds.

High: 18

Taranaki
Sunny with some cloud, cloud
mainly about southern Taranaki. Brisk south to southeasterly breezes, easing in
the evening.

High: 21

Western North Island

Cloudy spells with southerly breezes, brief spot of rain possible at times
otherwise mainly dry.

High: 20

Wellington

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, clearing later in the evening. Brisk
southerly winds.

High: 17

Nelson

Sunny with light winds this morning, afternoon northerlies.

High: 22

Marlborough

Sunny spells with light winds this morning then afternoon easterlies.
Southerly winds on the coast south of Clifford Bay with cloudier skies there and
the odd light shower possible at times.

Highs: 20-23

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southerlies tend easterly in the
afternoon.

Highs: 20-23

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes. Warmer temperatures
inland.

High: 20-24

Coastal Otago

Cloud this morning breaks to sunny spells, fresh northeasterly winds.

Highs: 17-18

Central Otago

Mainly sunny with light winds, some high cloud at times from
afternoon.

Highs: 26-28

Southland

Mostly sunny with light easterlies, winds may tend southerly in the
afternoon. Some high cloud at times thickening later this evening.

Highs: 22-23
