A front passes over the North Island tonight while clearing the top of the South Island this evening, rain moves in with the front especially out west. Only brief falls make it into eastern regions. Meanwhile overnight very cold southwesterlies develop about Southland bringing showers and snow to 400m by dawn tomorrow.

Mostly cloudy with the chance of a light shower, periods of rain move in overnight. Northwesterly winds.

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower possible then rain overnight,
northwesterly winds.

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd light showers then rain later, northwesterly
winds.

Eastern North Island

High cloud with a few spots of rain possible this evening, northwesterly
winds.

Western North Island

Rain, easing to the odd shower overnight. Strong north to northwesterly
winds.

Wellington

Periods of rain, easing later this evening then clearing. Strong north to
northwesterly winds ease.

Rain this evening then easing and clearing, breezy north to northwesterly
winds ease by midnight.

A few spells of rain, clearing this evening. Gusty northwesterlies.

Periods of rain about the foothills and briefly at times elsewhere easing
