Cold southwesterlies lie over the country again tonight, showers especially for eastern parts of the country with snow to 200m about parts of Otago / Canterbury and down to 300m about the lower North Island. Auckland northwards may see a few heavy showers overnight with hail.

Periods of cloud with breezy southwesterly winds, the odd shower at times especially in the west with some possibly heavy overnight.

Auckland

Periods of cloud with showers, some heavy then easing this evening. Showers
may be heavy again at times overnight with a chance of hail. Cold southwesterly
winds.

Bay Of Plenty

Clear spells with southwesterly winds, a few showers moving in later this
evening / overnight then clearing before dawn tomorrow. Showers mainly in the
west of the region.

Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of cloud with the chance of a shower or two (mainly this evening) with a few snow flurries to 500m about the Central Plateau,
cold southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -2-0

Eastern North Island

Periods of cloud with breezy southwesterlies, showers pushing into northern
Hawkes Bay and parts of Gisborne with snow flurries to 400m. Showers also
affecting coastal / southern Wairarapa with snow flurries to 300m.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

Taranaki

Cloudy areas with the odd shower, any of which clear overnight. Breezy
southeasterlies.
Tonight’s Low: 2

Western North Island

Periods of cloud, the odd shower possible otherwise dry. Southerlies.
Tonight’s Low: 1

Wellington

Cloudy periods with the odd shower and some hail, especially later and overnight with
brisk cold southerlies. Snow flurries to 300m as showers move through.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly clear skies, southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -2- -1

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy nearer the coast with occasional showers, snow flurries to
300 possibly 200m. Hail at times too. Showers mostly coastal with a few
penetrating a little further inland at times, mainly into North Canterbury.
Parts of Mid Canterbury and especially South Canterbury will likely see long
clear spells. Cold southwesterly winds.

West Coast

Clear skies with southwesterlies, easing this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: -1-0

Coastal Otago

Wintry showers with some small hail, cold southwesterly winds. Snow
flurries to 200m.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-4

Central Otago

The odd wintry shower and snow flurry to 200m clearing this evening, the
odd shower may remain in far eastern parts of the district. Cold southerlies
ease.
Tonight’s Lows: -3- -1

Southland

Cloudy periods with the odd shower, easing this evening and long dry spells
developing. A few light snow flurries to 200m, lifting to 300m ovenright. Cold
southwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-4
