A front clears the South Island this evening then the North Island overnight, rain precedes the front in most areas then clears in behind as north to northeasterly winds change northwest. Rain for the West Coast of the South Island and some western parts of the North Island only eases with showers remaining for some overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Rain with an isolated heavy fall possible. Rain eases around midnight as breezy northerlies change northwest. Rain even clearing for some with long dry spells developing.

Bay Of Plenty

Rain develops this evening, possibly heavy for some. Rain eases overnight
as breezy northeasterlies change northwest.

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with rain this evening possibly heavy for some then easing around
midnight as northeasterlies change northwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-13

Eastern North Island

Cloudy skies, a few spells of rain moving in from the west develop later
this evening then clear overnight with northerlies changing northwest towards
dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Western North Island

Cloudy with some rain this evening, easing overnight as northerlies (gusty
northeasterlies about Taranaki) change northwest.

Wellington

Rain, easing overnight as gusty northerlies change northwest.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Nelson

Rain with heavy falls, clearing later this evening as brisk northeasterlies
change northwest. Cloud then breaks away.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Marlborough

Rain with a few heavy falls possible, especially about the Sounds. Clearing
later this evening as brisk northeasterlies tend more northerly. Cloud breaking
away after midnight.

Canterbury

Cloudy with a few spells of rain, clearing this evening with
northeasterlies tending more northerly. Skies becoming clear after
midnight.

West Coast

Rain eases to the odd shower early this evening, northerly winds. A few
heavy falls possible south of Haast from later this evening, chance of a
thunderstorm too.

Coastal Otago

Spells of rain clear this evening then cloud breaks away, northeasterlies
ease to light winds overnight.

Central Otago

Any remaining showers clear this evening, cloud then breaking away with
northerlies easing. West of the Southern Lakes area the odd shower may continue
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Southland

Any remaining showers clear this evening, cloud then breaking away with
northeasterlies easing.
Tonight’s Low: 5
