It’s a cooler start for North Islanders today, down from the tropical warmth at the start of the week. While most places are in double digits now Aucklanders are still between 12 and 15 degrees and Hamiltonians on 10. Whangarei is also a little chilly on 13 degrees this hour.
The only North Island centres in single digits are Taupo & Masterton on 9, 8 in Levin and just 5 in Waiouru.
The South Island is much cooler but today may possibly be a degree or two warmer in some centres. Christchurch is now on 7 along with Timaru but it’s just 2 in Dunedin and -1 in Gore. Invercargill’s on zero.
It’s warmer at the top of the island with Blenheim on 8 and Nelson on10.
As far as rain goes there are a few showers brushing eastern parts of the North Island and dry everywhere else. Some heavy showers off the Taranaki coast.
