Cloud and/or showers continue to be fed into eastern and central areas of New Zealand as we head into the afternoon.
The low responsible for yesterday’s severe weather remains north east of East Cape, spiralling cloud, showers and strong, cool, south east winds into the North Island’s east coast.
Southerlies have eased quite a bit in Auckland today but are still near gale force out on the Hauraki Gulf. Strong to near gale south easterlies are blasting eastern areas of East Cape with gusty conditions in Rotorua, Taupo and New Plymouth.
Conditions are much different in the South Island with still conditions for many and very cold as we head towards noon.
The entire South Island is in single digits with temperatures only around zero in Central Otago and Southland with -3 in parts of northern Southland.
Christchurch has no wind and 3 with Dunedin similar but on 1.
