Heavy showers are affecting Auckland and Northland, rain along the North Island’s east coast and a low is making landfall around Westport/Greymouth this evening.
The low, which has today fuelled thunderstorms and hail showers across western parts of northern New Zealand, will fade out overnight but only to be replaced by another low tomorrow.
The new low will quickly move across the Tasman Sea bringing more rain and showers to western and northern New Zealand late Tuesday and to the east on Wednesday.
Cloudy skies over the South Island made for another bitterly cold day today for many with no immediate end in sight as winds turn more southerly on Wednesday.
Tonight more heavy showers will affecting northern New Zealand, some with hail, however most thunderstorms have now cleared.
