A large high is centred east of New Zealand in the Pacific Ocean while a northeasterly airflow lies over both the North and South Island’s.

Monday

Blue – Isolated showers developing about inland parts of the lower North Island this afternoon, some may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on.

While the risk of thunderstorms is low, isolated showers with the chance of an isolated heavy fall may also develop about inland parts of the South Island later this afternoon then clearing in the evening.

Yellow – Temperatures reaching into the mid twenties about the lower South Island this afternoon.

Tuesday

Blue – Isolated showers developing about inland parts of the lower North Island in the afternoon, some may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on.

Isolated showers with the chance of heavy falls developing about the inner South Island again, this time the risk goes up a notch. Still a relatively low chance of a thunderstorm but the risk is higher then on Monday.

Yellow – Temperatures reaching into the mid twenties about the lower South Island in the afternoon.

Wednesday

Showers about the inner South Island becoming heavy in the afternoon with thunderstorms then clearing later in the evening. Another warm day for most, especially about the lower South Island with high’s reaching into the mid twenties.
