A northwesterly airflow covers much of New Zealand today, meanwhile a front moves northwards over the South Island during the day, weakening as it goes. Expect a southwesterly airflow on Wednesday with Tuesday’s front now decaying over the North Island during the day.
Tuesday
Blue – Heavy rain moves into South Westland this morning then weakens the further north it pushes during the day.
Purple – Strong west to northwesterly winds for the areas marked below, winds gusting to gale.
Yellow – A hot day for the east of New Zealand, getting into the high 20’s. Low 30’s are possible for the eastern North Island, mid 20’s possible for inland Northland.
Wednesday
No issues of note.
Thursday
No big issues of note, there is a chance of some instability crossing the eastern North Island and Northland during the afternoon / evening. We’ll keep an eye on this and update accordingly.
– Please note, the idea behind this update is to focus on the main weather highlights, which is why not all regions are mentioned.
