A front clears away from the North Island early in the morning then expect a southwesterly airflow to cover New Zealand. Becoming unstable in the afternoon for some parts of the country.

Early rain clears the upper North Island then expect areas of cloud and the odd shower, winds breezy from the southwest brisk for some parts especially around Auckland and coastal Taranaki.

Early rain clears the lower North Island then expect a few showers, becoming heavy in the afternoon especially in the east with a chance of thunderstorms and hail.

Much of the South Island has some shower activity with sunny spells about. Showers may become heavy about the interior in the afternoon with a chance of hail. Thunderstorms possible too, most likely about the Nelson / inland Marlborough area. Winds from the south or southwest.
