Huge storms south of NZ, high pressure north of us – windy westerlies in between

Another cold front is clearing NZ today ahead of some brief high pressure which will cross the top of the country over the next day or two. As the high moves out east of NZ by Friday a subtropical airflow increases for many – but also becomes windier this weekend with gales in some exposed places.
