There has been some impressive rainfall totals in the past week, so much so that the key in our 7 day maps originally didn’t even come close to capturing the 1000mm+ that fell on the West Coast. Our original rainfall map showed a limit of 200mm and that made most of the shading in the key for the West Coast one big block of white.
So we’ve tweaked it and now it shows up to 500mm (still half of what fell but you can see much more clearly now where that specifically occurred).
But it’s the fain that fell over the North Island that has been most welcome, but as you can see below there were some small pockets that missed out. Some parts of Waikato didn’t get the drenching they needed – while others down the road did. Northern Manawatu/Rangitikei also missed out on a proper soaking.
