Northern and eastern areas of both islands are in for some hotter weather for the next two days ahead of a cold change moving up the South Island starting tomorrow.
Otago, Canterbury and Marlborough will reach the mid to late 20s but that colder southerly will arrive later on Saturday in Christchurch. Christchurch should reach the mid 20s today and late teens tomorrow, then low teens by Sunday as the coldest air moves in.
Invercargill should today climb in to the low 20s but tomorrow will drop to the low teens.
Wellington will be in the low 20s today and tomorrow then mid teens by Sunday when that cool change arrives.
But further north the warmer weather should linger.
Most regions should reach the mid 20s over the next two days with the cooler southerly change arriving during Sunday only knocking the temperature down a few degrees in the east and a degree or two in the northern half.
