High pressure continues to cross the country and while clear skies and frosts were on the cards for many this morning there’s fog in the mix now too. The combination of fog and cold nights will be especially miserable for those outdoors around parts of the southern South Island.
In the north Waikato may also have a mix of frost and fog over the next night or two but the nor’east flow will be arriving for the long weekend (along with some rain).
In the coming days a nor’east flow will develop in most regions and this create milder weather for the long weekend. But before that arrives the next two nights ahead will still be pretty cold nationwide with more inland frosts, fog and low single digit temperatures.
The cold has most likely peaked for most places though, WeatherWatch.co.nz believes that occurred over Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
