A mainly settled day across the country as a ridge of high pressure moves over for a time, morning cloud clears for many to mostly sunny weather. High cloud develops about the far south however as a front moves towards Southland later in the day bringing rain there overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Any morning cloud clears then
expect mostly sunny weather with southerly breezes, a few clouds may drift in at
times from afternoon as winds tend southwesterly.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with light south to
southeasterly winds, afternoon northerlies about the Bay Of Plenty and winds
tend southwest for the afternoon about Waikato and the Central North
Island.
Highs: 22-23

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with southerly breezes, easing afternoon then dying out
evening.
Highs: 21-22

Western North Island

Sunny spells with light winds in the morning then afternoon westerly
breezes. Southerlies in the morning for Taranaki then westerlies set in there
during the afternoon also.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Sunny spells with northerlies developing early this morning, cloud thickens
a little in the evening.
High: 19

Nelson

Sunny with light winds and afternoon northerlies.
High: 22

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds, north to northwest breezes pick up in the
afternoon. Some high cloud later in the day.
High: 25

Canterbury

Morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with northeasterly breezes near the
coast, northerlies inland. Some high cloud from midday then thickening
overnight.
Highs: 22-25

West Coast

Cloudy spells and the odd sunny break about, westerly breezes. Cloud
thickens in the evening. Overnight rain moves into Fiordland.
High: 19

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, thickening in the evening. Northerly
breezes. Around dawn on Saturday morning winds change southwest with rain.
Highs: 23-24

Central Otago

Sunny with increasing high cloud, becoming thick in the evening. A few
spots of rain develop overnight. Westerly breezes.
Highs: 23-24

Southland

Sunny with increasing high cloud, becoming thick in the afternoon. A few
spots of rain develop later in the evening then overnight winds change westerly
bringing more widespread falls.
High: 23
