A westerly airflow lies over the country today. The odd shower in the west, rain for the West Coast of the South Island. Drier warmer weather out east for both islands.

Northland, Auckland & Waikato

A mix of sunny and cloudy spells with west to southwest breezes. A few light showers at times mainly morning and early afternoon, still a chance towards evening but less likely.
Highs: 16-17

CNI, BOP

Mostly sunny about the Bay Of Plenty with light west to southwest breezes. About the Central North Island expect a mix of sunny and cloudy spells.
Highs: 13-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds, northwesterlies pick up a little about the Wairarapa in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island

Cloudy periods with west to northwest breezes, chance of a light shower now and then mainly morning.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Mostly sunny with north to northwest breezes, some cloud at times mainly later in the day.
Highs: 15-16

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with some high cloud developing in the afternoon, west to northwest breezes.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain possible in the afternoon otherwise dry. Light winds tend northwest inland.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast
Rain, heavy at times. Northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud on the east coast, light winds. For Southland and Central Otago expect cloudy periods with a few morning showers which clear. Northwesterly breezes about inland areas and Southland.
Highs: 13-16
