A low pressure system brings rain or showers to most regions around New Zealand today. South Westland, Southland and Otago is mainly dry however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain or showers clear then sunny spells increase from afternoon, breezy southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A period of morning rain then clearing, sun breaks through for a time before showers push in during the afternoon as northwesterlies change southerly.
Highs: 13-17

Eastern North Island

Showers with light winds then southwesterlies picking up in the evening.
Highs: 17-20

Wellington

Patchy rain becoming more persistent later in the afternoon as northerlies change fresh southerly. Rain eases overnight.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Rain, heavy about Marlborough, clearing in the evening. Southerly winds, gusty about coastal Marlborough.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury

Morning rain (heavy north of Banks Peninsula) then easing to showers, clearing South Canterbury in the afternoon then in the north by evening. A mostly cloudy day. Fresh southwesterly winds gradually ease.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast

Mostly sunny, morning showers about North Westland clear away. Southerly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas and occasional sun with west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15
