A large anticyclone lies to the east of New Zealand today directing a northeasterly airflow over the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, a shower or two possible about eastern Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and Northland (especially in the east). Easterly winds.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with light winds.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island
A few morning showers possible then expect sunny spells, the odd shower continues about Gisborne till evening. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington
Sunny with northerly winds.
High: 21-22

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon northerly winds.
Highs: 21-25

Canterbury
Sunny with breezy afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 22-24

West Coast
Mostly sunny, light winds tend northwest around midday. Cloud gradually thickens from afternoon about Southland, a few showers from evening.
Highs: 19-25

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain possible later in the evening. North to northwesterly winds for most however tending northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 22-27
