North to northeasterly breezes over the North Island today, expect cloudy areas with a few showers here and there, sunny dry periods also especially out west in the likes of Taranaki and the Manawatu. North of Auckland expect isolated showers some of which may be heavy with thunderstorms easing in the evening.

Rain along the east coast with breezy easterlies, a few heavy falls at times. 13 degrees high’s can be expected on average about Wellington, the Central North Island and along the east coast. Mid teen temperatures in most western areas, 16 to 17 degree high’s north of the Waikato.

Mostly cloudy skies expected over most of the South Island also apart from in the far south and west, expect east to northeasterly breezes. Rain once again about the foothills in North Canterbury. In Marlborough and eastern parts of Tasman expect rain with heavy falls possible. Showers at times further south along the east coast with more of a focus on the foothills area of Canterbury and the coastal hills from Oamaru through to Dunedin, there will be dry breaks at times nearer the coast in Canterbury with some places remaining dry all day long.

Dry in Southland and about Central Otago with some cloud developing during the afternoon, northeasterly breezes. Dry along the West Coast also however there may be some cloud. 12 degrees on average can be expected in Southland and Central Otago then right up along the east coast into Marlborough, 13 or 14 about Nelson then on the West Coast mild once again with 16 to 17 degree high’s expected.
