A low slowly brews in the Tasman Sea and approaches the west of the country today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of thickening high cloud after any early fog clears, chance of a shower or two late afternoon / evening otherwise mainly dry. The Bay Of Plenty sees morning showers clear, high cloud from afternoon. Light west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

High cloud thickens and lowers during the day, chance of a shower from afternoon. Winds from the west or northwest. The Central North Island has a fairly cloudy day, perhaps a shower or two especially morning.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

High cloud with some sun at times, north to northwesterly winds. A few spots of rain may pass over in the afternoon. Showers move into the Wairarapa overnight with a southerly change.
Highs: 24-25

Wellington

Thickening high cloud with the odd shower possible from afternoon. Breezy northwesterly winds change southerly overnight bringing showers.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Thick high cloud with north to northwesterly winds, overnight showers with a southeasterly change.
Highs: 19-23

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud with some sun possible, light winds change southerly in the afternoon. Cloud increases in the evening with the odd shower or drizzle patch moving in.
Highs: 17-21

West Coast

Cloud or becoming cloudy in the morning, showers from late afternoon or evening. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

Becoming mostly cloudy this morning about Southland as southwesterly winds freshen, chance of a shower from afternoon. Sunny areas and some high cloud about Otago then cloud moves in from afternoon as light winds tend southwest.
Highs: 14-21
