A ridge lies over the North Island today, northwesterlies over the South Island with a front over the lower south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with southeasterly winds tending southwest around midday. While it is looking to be mainly dry there is the low risk of an isolated shower in the afternoon. Light winds may turn into a sea breeze during the afternoon about eastern Northland through to coastal Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny, a touch of high cloud possible. Light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 20-21

Eastern North Island

Some drizzle or showers, mostly in the morning about Hawkes Bay northwards then cloud breaking to a few sunny spells from afternoon. Southeasterly winds ease.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northerly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny weather with a touch of high cloud, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north to northeasterly winds.
High: 21-23

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with a few showers, some rain about South Westland. Gradually easing for all from afternoon. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

Morning rain clears then some sun breaks through, a few further showers possible late afternoon or evening as northerlies change southerly.
Highs: 19-24
