A front passes over the North Island this morning then off to the northeast in the afternoon, a westerly airflow lies over the rest of the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning rain or showers, clearing around midday then sunny spells increase as northwesterly winds change southwest. Showers may linger about Northland till later in the afternoon.
Highs: 25-28

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny or becoming sunny in the morning, breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-25

Eastern North Island

Any early cloud clears then mainly sunny, northwesterlies tend southwest early afternoon then swinging around to the east late afternoon near the coast.
Highs: 29-31

Wellington

Mostly sunny with gusty northerly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

A mainly sunny day, a touch of high cloud at times. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 28-29

Canterbury

Mainly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds. A coastal southerly may develop south of Banks Peninsula in the afternoon.
Highs: 26-27

West Coast

Mostly cloudy, the odd shower at times, more so about South Westland. Westerly winds.
Highs: 17-21

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy about Southland, chance of a shower or two. Otago sees sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spots of evening rain. Gusty west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-23
