Upper North Island

Morning showers possibly heavy then easing and becoming few and far between into the afternoon, winds breezy from the southwest.

Lower North Island

Heavy showers this morning in the west and across to the Wairarapa with a chance of hail and thunderstorms then easing and sunny spells increasing from afternoon. Wairarapa through to Gisborne about the ranges may see isolated showers pop up in the afternoon then clearing in the evening.

Upper South Island

Early heavy showers ease about Marlborough and Nelson then a few sunny areas break through. Expect a mix of sun and cloud elsewhere, an isolated shower or two may pop up in the afternoon then clearing away in the evening. Showers mainly inland. A mix of sun and cloud for the West Coast.

Lower South Island

Southland and Otago see cloudy areas and the odd shower about coastal areas, inland should be sunnier with lighter winds from the southwest.
