A weak area of low pressure lies over the North Island today while a north to northeasterly airflow builds over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas, chance of a shower especially afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 22-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with light winds, chance of an afternoon isolated shower otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 22-25

Eastern North Island

A few early showers clear then cloud breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon, chance of an isolated shower about the ranges in the afternoon. Southerlies tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Sunny spells, northerly winds from afternoon.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with light winds tending north to northwesterly in the afternoon, high cloud develops overnight. Nelson may see a little more cloud at times during the day.
Highs: 20-24

Canterbury

Any coastal morning cloud breaks away, mostly sunny otherwise with high cloud increasing late afternoon / evening. Brisk to strong Easterly winds near the coast, lighter winds inland.
Highs: 19-24

West Coast

Mostly sunny to start then cloud increases from afternoon, the odd drizzle patch about Fiordland from afternoon then rain moves into South Westland overnight. Northeasterly winds freshen later in the day.
Highs: 20-24

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, a few spots of rain overnight. North to northeasterly winds, gusty about the Otago coast.
Highs: 19-27
