A weak low centred east of the North Island may bring some instability this afternoon, high pressure for the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells with southwesterly winds, isolated showers possible in the afternoon especially about the Bay Of Plenty across to East Cape, some of which may be heavy. Warmest afternoon temperatures about the Bay Of Plenty and Northland.
Highs: 20-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny, there may be some cloud from afternoon as light winds tend south to southeast. West to southwesterly breezes may freshen in the afternoon about Taranaki and the Central North Island before tending to the south in the evening.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Sunny spells, chance of a shower or two from afternoon. Light winds at first then east to southeasterly breezes pick up after midday.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington

Some sun then a few afternoon showers possible as a southerly change moves in.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy about Marlborough, chance of a shower in the afternoon otherwise mainly dry. Light winds then afternoon easterlies. Nelson sees mostly sunny weather, cloud may thicken later in the day. Light winds in the morning then afternoon northerlies.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury

A few showers, mainly clearing early afternoon although the odd one may linger till evening, remaining fairly cloudy. Easterly winds.
High: 14

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-22

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with a touch of cloud from afternoon, light winds. Afternoon east to northeasterly winds about coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-19
