A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today while a high is centred off to the east in the Pacific Ocean.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Rain or showers clear away this afternoon then expect a mainly cloudy day. The Bay Of Plenty may see the odd drizzle patch throughout the day after morning rain eases and Northland sees showers. Breezy east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with a few spells of rain or perhaps a shower or two, long dry periods also. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

Eastern North Island

A few early morning showers clear, cloud breaks to sunny areas by afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Sunny areas with Northerly winds, chance of an early shower any of which clears.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy, the odd drizzle patch about Nelson from afternoon. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from afternoon, breezy Nor’East winds nearer the coast and lighter winds further inland.
Highs: 19-24

West Coast

Some morning sun possible, becoming cloudy by midday with patchy light rain moving in late afternoon or evening. Increasing northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud developing around midday, north to northeasterly winds breezy about coastal Otago.
Highs: 20-23
