A ridge lies over the upper North Island today while the rest of the country is covered by a northwesterly airflow, strong over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

A hot and mainly sunny day, just a few clouds about with a chance of fog or low cloud morning and night about inland areas. Afternoon Sea Breezes.
Highs: 27-28

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas with west to northwest breezes.
Highs: 24-27

Eastern North Island

A sunny day with light winds, afternoon east to northeast breezes about coastal Hawkes Bay. Hot inland.
Highs: 29-33

Wellington

Sunny areas with brisk Northerly winds becoming strong at times from afternoon.
High: 23

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds breezy at times in the afternoon about Marlborough. Northerly winds for Nelson.
Highs: 26-31

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud with some sun at times. Gusty Northwesterly winds, strong at times inland.
Highs: 30-31

West Coast
Areas of rain about Fiordland, the odd patchy shower further north through to about Greymouth. Mostly cloudy skies. Breezy northwesterly winds.

Highs: 21-25

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and some high cloud, chance of the odd shower about otherwise mainly dry. Strong west to northwesterly winds may tend southerly in the evening.
Highs: 24-27
