Conditions becoming a little unstable about parts of the upper North Island this afternoon namely the Bay Of Plenty, elsewhere over the country fairly settled with areas of cloud in the west and sunnier out west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas, cloud builds from midday then isolated showers develop in the afternoon. Showers may become heavy for some with a chance of thunderstorms especially about eastern Northland, southern parts of Auckland, eastern Waikato and the Bay Of Plenty. West to southwest winds for most however tending northerly about the Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 26-29

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with gentle southerly breezes. About parts of the Central North Island especially in the north isolated showers develop late afternoon / evening some of which could be heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on.
Highs: 26-28

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas and some sun, southerly winds tend easterly during the afternoon. Late afternoon or evening there may be a brief shower or two.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, Southerly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy areas with southeasterly winds for Marlborough, northeasterly winds about Nelson.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with south to southwesterly winds, perhaps a few afternoon sunny areas.
High: 19

West Coast

Sunny areas with light winds tending west to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-21

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with southeasterly breezes, perhaps a light drizzle patch or two especially in the morning otherwise mainly dry. Central Otago sees a few sunny areas during the day with cloud thicker morning and night.
Highs: 14-21
