An anticyclone keeps conditions over the South Island mainly sunny today although there will be some morning cloud in the east. For the North Island expect an easing southeasterly airflow, mainly sunny in the west meanwhile the east coast from Wairarapa through to Gisborne sees cloudier skies and the odd shower.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Chance of an early shower about Northland otherwise expect sunny weather with Sou’East winds easing across the day.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with southeasterly winds, dying out later in the day. Areas of cloud closer to the ranges in the east.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island

Fairly cloudy with a few drizzle patches or light showers during the day, clearing late afternoon. Cold southerly winds die out around midnight.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower or two breaks to afternoon sunny areas, southerly winds die out in the evening.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud breaks to mainly sunny weather for Marlborough, mainly sunny about Nelson from the get go this morning. Southerlies tend north to northeast in the afternoon.
High: 16-17

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, East to Nor’East winds.
Highs: 14-17

West Coast

Mainly sunny with light winds, some high cloud moves in during the afternoon.
Highs: 15-18

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds, some high cloud from afternoon.
Highs: 14-19

Yes the North Island expect an easing southeasterly airflow from Wairarapa through to Gisborne sees cloudier skies shower.
