A ridge hangs on to the North Island today bringing mainly settled weather, a fair amount of cloud about however mainly this morning. The South Island sees a front approach from the west bringing some rain to the West Coast later in the day, high cloud increases out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaking to a few afternoon sunny areas, northeasterly winds. Cloud thickens again overnight.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy about Taranaki, elsewhere expect sunny areas and increasing cloud. Northerly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny weather with some high cloud gradually moving in during the day, thickening later in the evening. Light northeasterlies.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Becoming cloudy by midday with breezy northerlies.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some increasing cloud, light winds. Some rain possible later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northeasterly winds. A few spots of rain possible in the evening spreading from the west.
High: 14

West Coast

Cloudy with rain moving in late afternoon or evening, possibly heavy overnight. Northeasterly winds, picking up a little after midday.
High: 13

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy skies, areas of rain spread into Central Otago mid to late afternoon and a few spots may reach the coast later in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 10-12
