A northwesterly airflow lies over the country today, cloudy with the chance of a shower in the west and sunnier skies out east. Evening rain for Fiordland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with light west to northwesterly winds, the Bay Of Plenty sees longer sunny breaks during the day. Chance of a light shower or two in the west otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with light west to northwest winds, chance of a light shower in the west otherwise dry.
Highs: 11-13

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Areas of cloud with northwesterly winds, breezy after midday.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with north to northwesterly winds from afternoon.
Highs: 13-16

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies near the coast, northwesterly winds inland. A touch of high cloud possible.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast

Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, chance of a patchy light shower from afternoon. Evening rain moves into Fiordland then pushing northwards overnight, heavy falls at times.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, north to northwesterly winds. Some overnight rain.
Highs: 10-14
