A westerly quarter windflow lies over New Zealand today, the sunniest weather is in the east with cloud at times and the chance of a shower or two in the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas with light westerlies, even the chance of a brief shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Sunny areas more frequent during the day the further north one goes into Northland as this part of the upper North Island is more under the control of a ridge of high pressure.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Areas of cloud with westerly quarter winds, chance of a shower or two (mainly morning) otherwise farily dry.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light westerly quarter winds.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Any morning cloud clears to a sunny day, northwesterly winds develop by midday.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, light winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, light winds tend northeast near the coast.
High: 12

West Coast

Cloudy areas with a few showers about mainly in the morning, long dry areas into the afternoon. Westerly winds.
High: 11

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds after any morning cloud clears.
Highs: 9-11
