A high still sits out to the east of the country today while a northeasterly airflow blows over New Zealand. Cloudy areas and the odd light shower possible for exposed northeastern areas of the North Island today, becoming mostly sunny on the South Islands east coast however cloud builds in the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some cloud, expect slightly cloudier skies and the odd shower in exposed eastern areas like the Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and eastern areas just north of Auckland. Winds naturally will be from the east breezy at times after midday.
High: 21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Eastern North Island

Early drizzle clears then expect cloudy areas and a few sunny spells, sunny
spells more likely further south into Wairarapa while cloudier skies are
expected about the likes of Gisborne for e.g. The odd light shower or drizzle
patch may drift in about Napier northwards in the evening.
High: 18-19

Wellington

Mainly sunny skies, light easterlies.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with afternoon east to northeast breezes, any morning cloud
breaks away.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, northeasterly breezes.
High: 17

West Coast

Mostly sunny weather with light winds, a few clouds building about South
Westland from late morning however then further north later in the
evening.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago

Any morning cloud breaks away then mostly sunny, east to northeasterly
winds.
Highs: 17-20
