A brisk to strong northwesterly airflow lies over the country today, rain for the west of the South Island and mainly dry out east with high cloud. Some rain for Southland and Otago however. Generally dry across the North Island although there could be a brief light shower or two for some western parts.

Sunny areas and high cloud with westerly winds.

Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells with breezy westerly winds, cloud thickens later in the
evening.

Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny areas and some mid / high level cloud, westerlies.
Highs: 19-20
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, thickening in the evening. Breezy west
to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-25
Western North Island
Mostly cloudy with brisk west to northwest winds, the odd brief spit
possible at times otherwise dry.
Cloudy periods with gusty northwesterly winds, strong at times from evening
with gales possible. Some overnight rain.
Mostly cloudy with breezy west to northwest winds, spots of rain move in
overnight.
Sunny areas and some high cloud, thickening from late afternoon.
Northwesterly winds gusty at times.
Thick high cloud with northwesterly winds, becoming strong and gusty late
afternoon / evening. Spots of rain may make it into the foothills at
times.
Periods of rain with breezy northwesterlies, rain may be heavy at times
especially evening onwards.
High cloud in the morning, light winds. Spells of rain move in from midday
then clear later in the evening.
Highs: 14-15
Central Otago
Cloudy with the odd spit of rain possible in the morning, rain more likely
in the afternoon. Light northwesterlies.
Cloudy with westerly winds, the odd spit possible. From afternoon winds
tend light southerly and rain moves in.
