New Zealand lies between two low pressure systems today, one east of the North Island and a complex low pressure system in the Tasman Sea. The North Island is mainly settled although expect cloudy periods from Wellington and then up the east coast. The upper South Island, lower South Island and West Coast is mainly sunny and dry. Eastern regions of the South Island sees showers move in from the east, some snow to 300m in Canterbury.

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds easing, some evening high cloud possible.

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light southwesterlies.
Highs: 13

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with light south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Eastern North Island

Periods of cloud with southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with breezy southeasterly winds easing, chance of an early
shower then clearing (mainly for the southern half of the region).
High: 12

Western North Island

Sunny spells with light winds.
High: 11

Wellington

Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower or two, southerly winds.
High: 10

Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 10-11

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds. Cloud increases this morning about southern
Marlborough especially near the coast (towards Kaikoura), a few showers from
late morning near the coast with snow flurries to 600m about coastal ranges.
Highs: 8-11

Canterbury

Showers moving into coastal Canterbury this morning then spreading inland
this afternoon. Rain for a time this afternoon near the coast then easing
evening. Snow to 400 or 300m. Parts of inland North Canterbury may remain
dry.
Highs: 5-7

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, some late high cloud.
Highs: 10-11

Coastal Otago

Becoming mostly cloudy this morning, east to northeast winds. Drizzle
patches from late afternoon or evening.
High: 8

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds tending northeasterly after a frosty start, some
late cloud possible.
Highs: 3-4

Southland

Sunny with light east to northeast winds after a frosty start.
High: 7
