A ridge covers the country today extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea, this brings mainly settled weather. Still, there is a bit of weather going on around the edges. Showers clearing this morning about the east coast of the North Island while at the other end of the country and approaching front about the far south brings rain later in the day to Fiordland and then Southland overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny with southerly winds, easing in the evening.
Highs: 17-18

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny with southerly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

Morning showers clear then sunny spells increase from midday, southerlies
die out by evening.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island

Becoming mostly sunny in the morning south of Wanganui with light
southerlies dying out, winds may tend light westerly in the afternoon. About
northern Taranaki expect sunny skies with southerly winds, easing in the
evening.
High: 16

Wellington

Becoming mostly sunny by midday, light southerlies at first then northerly
winds from afternoon.
High: 14

Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 15-16

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Sunny with light east to northeast winds near the coast, winds tend
northwest inland.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast

Sunny with some cloud increasing from midday then thickening evening, light
westerlies. Rain moves into Fiordland in the evening.
High: 14

Coastal Otago

Sunny with light winds, perhaps tending northwest in the afternoon. Some
evening high cloud moves in.
Highs: 16-17

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, northwesterly winds.
Overnight a few spells of rain move in.
High: 15

Southland

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from afternoon, northwesterly winds
freshening. Overnight winds change westerly with showers.
High: 16-17
