An anticyclone covers much of the country today bringing settled weather for the majority. A southeasterly airflow brings the odd shower about Hawkes Bay northwards however and a front moving onto the far south of the South Island brings rain for Southland and Otago and drizzle further north.

Northland
Mostly sunny with light southerly breezes, winds tend more southeasterly in eastern areas with cloud a little more frequent.
Highs: 22-23

Auckland

Mainly sunny with periods of cloud at times, light winds tend southwest in
the afternoon.
High: 23

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-23

Waikato & Central North Island

Any morning fog clears then expect mostly sunny weather with light
winds.
Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud about the Wairarapa with light winds tending
easterly in the afternoon. Further northwards expect periods of cloud with the
odd shower, east to southeast winds.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island

Any morning low cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds. About
northern Taranaki winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-23

Wellington

Mostly sunny with light northerlies.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Early morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds at first then
afternoon northerlies.
High: 20-21

Marlborough

Any early morning cloud clears to a sunny day, light winds at first then
afternoon easterlies.
Highs: 21-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies after morning low cloud or fog
clears. Late afternoon southerlies push into South Cantebury with some cloud
then drizzle. Southerlies push into Mid and North Canterbury in the evening with
some cloud and the risk of late drizzle, mainly about the foothills.
Highs: 19-21

West Coast

Rain about Fiordland, easing in the evening. Further north excpect sunny
spells with light southwesterlies, cloud thickens in the evening with the chance
of a brief late shower.
High: 18

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies, winds change southerly around
midday with increasing cloud. Rain develops mid to late afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Central Otago

Sunny areas and high cloud with light northerlies. Winds change southerly
mid afternoon with rain developing, resonably persistent falls in the
east.
Highs: 19-20

Southland

High cloud thickening in the morning with light northerlies. Winds change
southerly around midday with rain developing. Rain eases later in the evening
becoming patchy.
Highs: 16-17
