An anticyclone lies over the South Island today while a southeasterly airflow blows over the North Island. Generally settled weather today however there may be some areas of morning cloud about, the East Coast of the North Island stays mainly cloudy with some drizzle or rain about. There is the chance of a few late afternoon / evening isolated showers Auckland northwards too.

Northland
Mainly sunny with some cloud about, southeasterly breezes. Afternoon and evening a few isolated showers are possible, chance of a brief heavy fall. Later in the evening or overnight the odd shower moves in about eastern coastal areas.

Auckland

Mainly sunny with some cloud about, southeasterly breezes. Chance of an
isolated shower late afternoon and evening.
High: 24

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with southeasterlies, picking up a little in the afternoon.
Some cloud about eastern parts of the Central North Island spilling over from
the east coast.
Highs: 21-25

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with drizzle patches, evening rain for a time then easing overnight.
Fresh south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island

Sunny spells with southeasterly breezes, any early light showers clear.
Brisk southeasterly about Taranaki with mostly sunny weather.
Highs: 21-22

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, brisk southeasterly winds
ease in the evening.
High: 17

Nelson

Sunny with southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Early cloud clears to mostly sunny weather. East to southeast winds, a
little fresh near the coast.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon. Easterlies freshen,
mainly near the coast.
