A ridge over the South Island brings mainly settled weather today, however about the top of the South Island some scattered rain moves in from afternoon. The North Island is a mixed bag due to a low pressure system that will be centred to the northwest of the island, for the weather near you check out the forecasts below.

Northland
Cloudy in the morning with the odd shower, mostly in the east clearing around midday. A few sunny spells possible in the afternoon with northeasterly winds tending westerly by evening. Chance of a late afternoon or evening
isolated shower.
Highs: 23-25

Auckland

Cloudy with the odd shower, especially in the north. Breezy
easterlies.
High: 22

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with patchy rain from about midday, long dry spells for the Central
North Island and Waikato with showery activity a bit more frequent about the Bay
Of Plenty. Easterly breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, especially midday onwards. Easterly
breezes.
Highs: 19-21

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with some scattered rain from midday, southeasterly
breezes.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island

Becoming mostly cloudy this morning, the odd spit or shower moving in after
midday. East to southeast breezes.
High: 20

Wellington

Becoming cloudy this morning, odd spit of rain from afternoon. Easterly
breezes.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Becoming cloudy this morning with some rain from afternoon, light
winds.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Becoming cloudy this morning with the odd shower from afternoon, easterly
breezes.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with east to northeast breezes, a little breezy during the
afternoon. Warmer temperatures about some inland sheltered areas.
Highs: 20-25

West Coast

Mostly sunny, a few clouds about. Light winds in the morning then afternoon
sea breezes. Some cloud moves south in the morning to about Westport from the
north, this may bring a shower or two from afternoon.
Highs: 19-21

Coastal Otago

Sunny with east to northeast breezes.
Highs: 18-20

Southland & Central Otago

Sunny with light winds in the morning, tending southerly in the afternoon.
Risk of an isolated afternoon shower about western parts of Central Otago.
Highs: 20-28
