Cold southwesterlies will ease for many overnight, showers clearing for most this evening becoming restricted to some eastern coastal areas overnight. Frosts are likely for inland parts and this brings a risk of black ice so be carefull on the roads especially about the deep south.

Cloudy periods and showers with brisk southwesterly winds, showers ease then mostly clearing overnight.

Occasional showers with a few snow flurries to 600m about the Central
Plateau, the odd one may be briefly heavy with hail then clearing this evening.
Mainly clear skies overnight.

Showers, some may be briefly heavy with hail then clearing by midnight with
cloud breaking overnight. Cold southwesterly winds

Wellington

Mainly clear skies this evening with southerly winds, overnight the odd
shower / small hail moves in again especially in the east. Chance of a snow
flurry to 300m.

Nelson

Clear skies with breezy southwesterlies easing this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 0

Marlborough

Sunny with northeasterlies tending southwest this evening. Southern
Marlborough may see a shower or two overnight with the chance of snow flurries
to 300m, mainly near the coast.

Canterbury

Mainly clear skies for inland areas, a few clouds about and becoming frosty
tonight. Nearer the coast showers are possible especially about Christchurch and
Banks Peninsula, showers may be briefly heavy at times with hail / sleet and
snow flurries to low levels. Wintry showers easing overnight and clearing by
dawn tomorrow although the odd straggler may hang onto Banks Peninsula a little
longer into the morning tomorrow. Gusty cold southwesterlies near the coast
tonight.

West Coast

Clear skies with southwesterlies easing, remaining coastal showers Westport
northwards clearing this evening.

Coastal Otago

Wintry showers, a chance of sleet and hail with snow flurries to low
levels. Easing this evening and clearing overnight with cold southwesterlies
easing.
Tonight’s Low: 1

Central Otago

Any remaining wintry showers / snow flurries to low levels clearing this
evening. Clear skies overnight and frosty, watch for potential black ice.
Tonight’s Low: -5

Southland

Remaining wintry showers / hail and snow flurries to low levels clear this
evening. Southwesterlies ease overnight. Black ice possible overnight for inland areas.
Tonight’s Low: -2-1
