An anticyclone in the Tasman Sea is slowly edging closer to the country but the current southwesterly airflow isn’t done with us yet, although it is easing. Frosty for many areas tonight especially inland for both islands.

Occasional showers possibly heavy at times then easing overnight and retreating mainly to western coastal areas. Brisk southwesterlies ease later this evening.

Occasional showers possibly heavy at times then clearing after midnight.
Brisk southwesterlies ease later this evening, winds tend lighter southerly
overnight.

Waikato & Central North Island

Remaining showers clearing the Waikato this evening, any cloud elsewhere
