A ridge brings mainly settled weather to the North Island tonight, cold though with frosts developing for many sheltered spots. Cloud along the east coast breaks up a little overnight. Over the South Island there is a light southwesterly airflow, most places are dry but there are showers about outer parts of Banks Peninsula and also in South Canterbury / North Otago.

Northland
Clear spells and some cloud, increasing overnight. Light winds tend northeasterly overnight. Rain moves into upper parts of Northland towards dawn tomorrow.

Auckland

Mainly clear skies with light winds, a few whiffs of high cloud possible
overnight. Frosts in sheltered areas.

Bay Of Plenty

Clear skies with light winds.

Waikato & Central North Island

Mainly clear skies with light winds, some cloud about southern and eastern
parts of the Central North Island.
Tonight’s Lows: -3- -2

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas breaking up a little overnight, any showers about northern
Hawkes Bay / southern Gisborne clearing this evening. Southwesterlies
ease.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

Taranaki

Mainly clear skies with southeasterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 0-2

Western North Island

Clear spells, some cloud at times. Light winds.
Tonight’s Low: -1

Wellington

Cloudy periods with southerly winds, chance of a light shower otherwise
dry.
Tonight’s Low: 5

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly clear skies with light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -2- -1

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with light winds. Showers about outer parts of Banks
Peninsula and also south of Ashburton / South Canterbury. A few snow flurries
down to 400m where showers fall.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

West Coast

Clear areas, some cloudy spells, a few showers Greymouth northwards
clearing this evening. Light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

Coastal Otago

Areas of cloud increase from this evening, the odd drizzle patch overnight.
A few light snow flurries to 700m. Light east to northeast winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 5

Central Otago

Clear areas and some high cloud, thickening a little in the northeast
overnight. Light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -5- -4

Southland

Mainly clear skies although a few areas of high cloud move in, light
winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -2- -1
