The final night of this strong northeasterly airflow currently over us is upon us, a front is closing in from the west which is continuing to bring heavy rain to the upper North Island. Heavy rain will also affect Nelson tonight.

Northland

Periods of rain, heavy at times then easing by dawn. Strong northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-13

Auckland

Cloudy with occasional showers turning to periods of rain by evening, still a few patchy lighter spells. Strong northeasterlies gusting to gale force at times about exposed areas. Rain may be heavy towards dawn tomorrow.

Tonight’s Low: 12

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with drizzle patches or showers, rain develops overnight. Brisk
northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with the odd light shower then rain later this evening about the
Waikato and overnight about the Central North Island, breezy
northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Eastern North Island

Clear skies with some high cloud moving in overnight, breezy
northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Taranaki

Cloudy with strong northeasterlies, the odd spot of rain then overnight
rain.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Western North Island

Some increasing high cloud from this evening, east to northeast
winds.

Tonight’s Low: 9

Wellington

Areas of high cloud, odd spot of rain possible. North to northeasterly
winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 10

Nelson

Rain with heavy falls at times, increasing northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 10

Marlborough

Periods of rain with northeasterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud, a few spots of rain possible this evening. East to
northeast winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

West Coast

Periods of rain with northeasterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Coastal Otago

Thick high cloud with breezy northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Central Otago

Plenty of high cloud with northeasterlies, a few brief spells of rain at
times (mainly west of the Southern Lakes region).

Tonight’s Low: 6

Southland

High cloud with north to northeasterly winds.

Tonight’s Low: 6
