The last of the heavy showers and potential thunderstorms about the North Island this evening as a low pressure system finally moves away to the northeast overnight. For the South Island it’s a fairly cloudy night in the east with southerly quarter winds and some drizzle, skies gradually clear up in the west overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Showers, some heavy easing this evening and clearing for many. The odd shower may remain overnight about Northland’s western coastline. Southwesterly breezes.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-13

Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with some cloud, easterlies ease this evening. Inland there may be heavy isolated showers with thunderstorms, any of which clear later this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Central North Island & Waikato
Showers, some heavy with possible thunderstorms and hail then clearing later this evening. Light winds. Skies clearing up overnight although there is the chance of a fog patch or two towards dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Eastern North Island
Clear about the Wairarapa, some cloud further north with sea breezes easing later this evening, about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and especially Gisborne heavy showers with thunderstorms clear later this evening. South to southwest breezes develop overnight for all bringing cloud and a risk of drizzle.

Western North Island
Clear with some high cloud developing this evening, sea breezes ease later this evening then winds tend southerly overnight especially about Kapiti.
Tonight’s Low: 11-12

Wellington
Sunny spells, cloud thickens during the evening with some drizzle overnight. Southerly breezes.
Tonight’s Low: 13

Nelson
Areas of cloud with northerly breezes, winds tend southerly overnight. Isolated showers inland (Nelson Lakes region) clear later this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 13

Marlborough
High cloud with easterly breezes, winds tend southerly later this evening with cloud increasing. A few isolated showers inland clear this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 11

Canterbury
Cloudy with southerly breezes, the odd drizzle patch about.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

West Coast
Fairly cloudy with light west to southwest winds, chance of a drizzle patch this evening. Cloud breaks up later overnight.

Coastal Otago
Cloudy with the odd drizzle patch, southerly breezes.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Central Otago
Fairly cloudy with southerly winds tending easterly overnight, there may be some drizzle overnight also.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Southland
Cloudy with south to southeasterly winds tending more easterly overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7
