Fairly tame Saturday evening for most

> From the WeatherWatch archives

An anticyclone currently lies in the Tasman Sea and spreads a west to southwesterly airflow over the country. In general western areas of both islands see some cloud and the chance of a shower while out east conditions are fairly dry and clear. A late southerly moves up the South Islands east coast however bringing some cloud and the chance of drizzle to the Canterbury foothills overnight.

After a day of breezy westerly winds they should ease away later this evening in Auckland, expect clear spells with some cloud about. There is the continued risk of a brief shower at times also otherwise conditions should be mainly dry. A low overnight of 12 degrees.

Wellington sees mainly clear skies this evening with northerly winds, a low of 11 degrees tonight.

Perhaps a bbq in Christchurch this evening? There may be an easterly breezes about but it should ease this evening, skies will be mainly clear. Overnight winds flick round to the south bringing cloudy areas. A low overnight of 6 degrees.
