Easterly airflow switches things up on Tuesday – The Big Picture

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Tuesday an easterly quarter airflow lies over most of New Zealand.

So the east of both islands can expect mainly cloudy skies, with areas of rain or drizzle in general.
Rain may be heavy about Marlborough and the Wairarapa at times through the day.

Southland and the West Coast of the South Island will see the best weather, staying mainly sunny with light winds.
Areas from Greymouth northwards could see some cloud in the afternoon, along with the risk of a shower or two.

The west of the North Island sees showers for much of the day, with south to southwesterly winds.
At the same time the airflow further north means showers start up again about the Waikato northwards.
