Cool night across mainland

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Temperatures were down to mid single figures last night from Blenheim to Gore as much of the South island had clear blue skies and light winds.

Blenheim shivered on 6 degrees at one stage while Christchurch fared only one degree warmer on 7. Yesterday morning Manapouri managed a light ground frost and just 2 degrees and Timaru slumped to a mere 5.

Although chilly nights are being experienced under an anticyclone, today many temperatures should notch the 20 degree mark to remind many southerners that it is still midsummer.

Today North Islanders should see little humidity again which will continue to make conditions much more bearable after such a muggy Thursday and Friday.
