Cloud, showers and sun – The Big Picture on Friday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Friday, we have a ridge over most of the North Island, and a northwesterly airflow over the South Island (and lower parts of the lower North Island).

The North Island, therefore, has some cloud about here and there, but areas of sun too, while there’s the chance of early fog about the Waikato and Central North Island.
There may be a few morning showers in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty northwards, with the chance of an odd shower lingering about Northland through the afternoon.
Auckland itself may remain fairly dry, as the Coromandel Peninsula blocks a bit of weather coming from the east.

The South Island is sunny in the east and north, also the south too, although some high cloud develops.
Becoming mostly cloudy on the West Coast, with a few showers from afternoon, while rain moves into Fiordland overnight, becoming heavy.
