Chilly air remains

A string of 18s in the far north and in Tauranga are the warmest temperatures across NZ this afternoon.
This is a far cry from just 48-72 hours ago, when this was basically the coolest reading across the country. Lumsden is feeling the real chill however with just 3 degrees and Wanaka is managing to double that but it’s still only 6 degrees.

Tonight is going to be a cold one in the south with frosts expected in a number of areas in the mainland with many centres expecting to fall below zero. Further north, some cloud and a few showers may fall across a number of areas but it still wont be overly warm.

Temperature wise sees the weekend still cool overall but a gradual warming is expected in some western areas but the nights up and down the country will certainly have a very fresh feel!.
